It is an inflammatory disorder of the skin that gives a silvery or red look. Skin cells mature in approx. 4-week time, but in psoriasis they mature as early as 3 to 4 days, resulting in dry, flaky build-up. It is as if skin is desperate to expel something irritating and it prematurely forces skin cells to the surface.
Psoriasis can be itchy and painful but not contagious. But it definitely has got a strong cosmetic effect on the patients. The sufferers feel embarrassed and social outcast. Psoriasis can occur at any age, but most common age group is 15 years to 40 years of age. Approx. 2 to 3 percent of world population suffer from psoriasis.
The most common form, plaque psoriasis, results in raised, red lesions covered by silvery white scales. Psoriasis can be limited to a few lesions or can involve moderate to large areas of skin.
Having 3 to 10 percent of the body affected by psoriasis is generally considered to be a moderate case. More than 10 percent is considered severe.
Though psoriasis has got a genetic tendency but according to the latest epigenetic research I strongly believe that if we follow a balanced diet then psoriasis genes may remain dormant for whole life.
There is a great hope for the patients if they follow our diet and herbal regimen strictly.
